Traveling and Writing

This website is about traveling and writing. Being on the move and being moved. Two different things, at times interconnected. Traveling is sometimes a way of muddling through, writing  is even more difficult.

Traveling and writing  -  the art of breathing and reflecting.

I wil tell of Indonesia*, Malaysia and Thailand, of the Ruta Maya** in Yucatan, Guatemala, Honduras and Belize. I will tell of temples, piramids, cities and ruins, forests and mountains, volcanoes and lakes. I will tell you of the little things of daily life.

I wrote two booklets in Dutch ‘Met de hoed tegen het Licht’ (With a Hat Shading the Light, traveling in South East Asia) in 2000 and ‘My Ruta Maya’ on Ruins and a Picnic in Central America)’ in 2005.

Sometimes I write haiku texts at home or on the road. I brought them together on a special page in combination or better in opposition with pictures I made when I traveled. In a way the pictures should block the haikus from each other being separate miniatures.

(1) the islands of Java, Bali, Lombok and Sulawesi (Tana Toraja) ; the monuments of the Borobudur, the Prambanan, Pura Besakih, temples of Singosari.

(2) temples, piramids and ruins of  the ancient Maya cities of Chichén Itzá, Uxmál and Palénque, Toniná, Copán, Tikál and Tulum.
